Tenacity, hard work, and success have characterized Steve Campen’s many years of experience as a lawyer and litigator since 1980. While at Pepperdine School of Law in Malibu, California, Mr. Campen was a member of the Law Review Staff and National Moot Court Team, graduating in the top 10% of his class.
Since establishing his own firm in 1981, Mr. Campen has primarily practiced in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice and criminal defense. Professionally, he is most proud of having successfully stood up for the “little guy” against some of the most powerful insurance companies and corporations in existence. He is believed to have obtained the largest jury verdict in an auto accident case in Washington County history and the third largest jury verdict in a medical malpractice case in Frederick County history (which, at the time, eclipsed all others).
Throughout his career, Mr. Campen has been an active member of the Frederick and Montgomery County Bar Associations and for 8 years served as the President of the Frederick County Plaintiff’s Bar Association. Admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in Maryland and D.C., Mr. Campen has also had the privilege of representing a number of clients nationwide. He is a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum (an organization consisting of only those trial lawyers who have obtained million dollar jury verdicts) and a member of the Lawyers of Distinction, America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators and America’s Top 100 Personal Injury Attorneys.
He considers the satisfaction in his professional life to be secondary to the fulfillment he has received from his family and personal life. Married to his high school sweetheart, Emily, Mr. Campen is the proud father of 4 wonderful children, Heidi, Samantha, Luke and Jesse, and has 3 grandsons, Verite’, Frankie and Nolan. He is also an avid fan of the Washington Nationals, Capitals and Redskins/Football Team/Commanders and an active participant in the Southern Frederick County Rotary Club where he is a Paul Harris Fellow and served as Sergeant at Arms and as the sponsor of the Rotary Interact teen club at Urbana High School from 2006 – 2018.
